Chris cyborg positive steriods

Just in, Cyborg tests positive for steroid‎s and will be suspended for 1 year.  Her belt will also be stripped from her.

Dana White stated during an radio interview in Las Vegas

We were going to hold that division and just do fights with ‘Cyborg’ whenever there was a new contender.

She’s getting stripped of the title. I don’t know. We’ll see what happens.

Dana also said that this will pretty much end the 145 pound division.

So now who is the real 145 lb champion?

Update Jan 7th Cyborg issues a statement

I am ultimately responsible for everything I put in my body, and at the end of the day, there is no excuse for having a prohibited substance in my system. I do not condone the use of any performance enhancing drugs by myself or any other professional athlete, and willingly accept the penalties and fines that have been handed down to me by the California State Athletic Commission and those of the StrikeForce/Zuffa organization.””While I was preparing myself for my last fight I was having a difficult time cutting weight and used a dietary supplement that I was assured was safe and not prohibited from use in sports competition. It was never my intention to obtain an unfair advantage over Hiroko, mislead StrikeForce, the Commission or my fans. I train harder than any fighter in MMA and do not need drugs to win in the cage, and I have proven this time and time again! My only mistake is not verifying the diet aid with my doctor beforehand, and understanding that it was not approved for use in the ring.” “Unfortunately in the end I suffer the consequences and must accept the responsibility for my actions.””I will do everything I can to show my fans that I can still compete at the professional level without the use of any prohibited substances, and ask God’s forgiveness for my mistake.

Update Jan 11th Gina Carano Responds to the Cyborg News in Radio Interview

Radio Host:
You last fight in MMA as most people know you lost to Cyborg about 2 1/2 years ago and yet she has just recently tested positive for steroids and she had a victory which was overturned I believe. Can you comment on that? Does that that in anyway taint the victory that she had over you a couple years ago?

Gina Carano:
I would lie and say I wasn’t defiantly effected by the news because that was my most important fight in MMA to date. It was a huge for deal. It was a very awful feeling to lose that fight. And I do know that steroids regardless that can help a mental edge, they an help a physical edge. It’s an unfair edge.

So I could have gone the rest of my life without hearing that she had tested positive in any of her fights because she knows along with the rest of everybody that was the question on everybody’s mind. But then again at the same time that just could be somebody around her giving her bad advise. And she defiantly a physical specimen that does not need any performance enhancements and she still be just as great as she is and maybe even better.

So I know that she going to have to do this a lot as human being earning back people’s trust as far as that goes. She got a long road ahead of her. She’s suspended for a year, the title was took from her. So that’s enough punishment as it is. I sympathize with her and I feel bad with her and she’s not a bad person. We all have our things in life that we do that aren’t necessarily right any maybe its just because we have bad direction around us at that time.

She’s a wonderful athlete. I have all the respect in the world. It did sting a lot, I’m not going to lie, to hear that. We’ll just keep on moving on. Things happen for reason. She’ll allow this experience to make her a better person. She’s still as believable as ever and she’ll come back better.

*update (04/18/12)

On Monday, April 9th, Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos was denied a leniency appeal to CSAC to cut her suspension time in half (6 months) by the Regulatory Board.(MMAWeekly.com)

That reduction attempt contradicts Santos’ initial statement on the matter.

“I am ultimately responsible for everything I put in my body, and at the end of the day, there is no excuse for having a prohibited substance in my system,” the disgraced fighter continued. “I do not condone the use of any performance enhancing drugs by myself or any other professional athlete, and willingly accept the penalties and fines that have been handed down to me by the California State Athletic Commission and those of the Strikeforce/Zuffa organization.” (01/07/12 – MMAPrime.tv)

Furthermore, the alleged “diet supplement” (which tested positive for stanozolol) or the “training camp member” that allegedly procured it for Santos, has yet to be disclosed (even in Santos’ latest communication –  Cris Cyborg Steroid Awareness Speech)  Please note the heavy amount of censorship by the channel (an affiliate of MMAPrime.tv, the site of which Santos discloses communication) in the comments section. As of this update, there are 18,940 views of the video and only 22 comments, all of which are pro-Cyborg in nature.

“So now who is the real 145 lb champion?” Gina carano

  • BenZ.

Those who dismiss the notion of Cyborg using steroids for past fights (esp the biggest of her career – the Gina fight) are giving the benefit of the doubt to a now proven user, plain & simple.

  • miranda

That’s unfortunate. It is bad for the sport, it is bad for women in MMA. She is a damn good fighter, but it’s too bad she just kissed her reputation goodbye. Gina is #1. Can’t wait to see her back in the cage. Hopefully Dana will still be confident in a future for female fighters.

Looking forward to seeing Haywire. Kudos for branching out Gina. Gladiator, MMA and now movies…you’re awesome.

  • Joe

cyborg not so tough now =P im still waiting for her/his dna test

  • steve

She is a man!!!! Have you ever heard he/she speak? It’s very clear she either has a penis or has so much test in her system she is beginnig to develop one! Gina lost to a man that night. 😉

  • Talissa

Gina is an awesome fighter, but I feel sorry for you and your denial to the fact that Cyborg won the fight and fought best. And I feel ashamed and sad that women are still judged by their looks in this sport. Cyborg isn’t pretty, but is a hardworker, humble and good person and the best fighter in the present days in this category. 99% of the men in MMA are hiddeous and we don’t see people judging them based on that, but strictly based on their skills. Cyborg made a mistake and will fairly pay for it. Gina was respectful enough to recognize Cyborg’s victory, so why can’t you?

  • Frankie

Hey let’s be real! Insults, non-model looks and who’s a fan-of-whom aside, we all know that Cyborg wins her fights with physique-over-technique. Gina, Marloes, Jan Finney and more all got clean looks on Cyborg’s chin.

like it was said above, stop giving the benefit of the doubt to a proven cheater. You sound like she submitted blood testing in the past that proved she never used. Sorry, that ain’t the case.

  • Bas

    Gina is hot.

  • Joe

my apologies if i insulted someone with my previous comment i was joking around. I guess everything happen for a reason, i mean if cyborg cheated on her fight vs gina well, i guess karma does exist, gina got a sweet movie deal, and cyborg no longer a champ and 1 year off the ring…
