relativity-mediaRelativity Media is going to release the movie Haywire January 20, 2012. The movie has been in limbo for the past year as the movie studios were working who has the rights to distribute the movie. The movie was originally financed by Relativity media so it makes sense that they would want to release it as well.

Haywire is an electrifying tale of espionage and betrayal, a female freelance covert ops specialist (Carano), who works in the deadly world of international operatives, strikes back after discovering she’s been double-crossed by someone close to her in the agency.

The film was previously set to release through Lionsgate, a distribution partner before Relativity structured its own distribution arm.

“We are honored to be working with Steven Soderbergh on this project. This film is full of amazing action sequences, and with a sophistication only Soderbergh can deliver,” said Relativity’s President of Worldwide Production, Tucker Tooley.

Directed Steven Soderbergh, Haywire features an all-star cast which includes Channing Tatum (GI Joe: Rise of the Cobra), Ewan McGregor (The Ghost Writer), Michael Fassbender (X-Men: First Class), Antonio Banderas (Desperado), Bill Paxton (Titanic), Michael Douglas (Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps) and Michael Angarano (Almost Famous).  Gina Carano performs her own high-adrenaline stunts and word is that Gina Carano is featured in nearly every frame of the movie.

Relativity Media is the company behind some of the greatest movies in recent years such as Grown Ups (2010), Get Him to the Greek (2010), Robin Hood (2010), Green Zone (2010), The Social Network (2010) and Salt (2010) just to name a few.

I’ve seen some of Haywire. I think Gina has some cool fight scenes in it. Although her opponents aren’t MMA fighters or anything of that stature it’s pretty cool. It certainly different to see her in an evening gown but she does look fantastic. I can’t wait to see the whole thing.

A 3 month delay isn’t too bad, it should be worth the wait.
