The Silent Flute New Movie with Gina Carano

Posted by: Jen on February 27, 2011

The Silent Flute is a remake of a movie written by Bruce Lee prior to his death in 1973.

Gina Carnano is expected to play Tara in the movie The Silent Flute which is due out in 2012. The film is still in the planning stages though odds are good the film will be made.

Movie Description:

A martial artist rebel named Cord embarks on a quest for the Book of Enlightenment, which is kept by the mysterious Zetan. He must pass various trials along the way that educate him in Zen philosophy. Among the characters that he runs across are a blind flute-player, a monkey chieftain, a death character, and the leader of a gypsy tribe (all played by David Carradine), who acts as a reluctant mentor to Cord. Some trials involve combat, while others involve riddles or encounters with unusual characters, such as a man who has been standing in a barrel of oil for 10 years in an attempt to remove the lower half of his body so he is no longer distracted by his genitals. Cord successfully passes all trials and is able to view the Book of Enlightenment. He discovers that each page in the book is a mirror, showing him that the secret to enlightenment and all knowledge is already within himself. He then returns to the outside world to himself become a mentor for later seekers.

As it looks, this is such an insanely bad idea!

    Creators:
The Producers body of work is essentially the 80’s ‘Police Academy’ movies and before that the 1970’s ‘Silent Flute’ (aka ‘Circle of Iron”) They reportedly got funding from some Asian backer about a year ago and hadnt made ANY waves since, Oh, wait there was talk from the Producer/writer about the same time of reviving the ‘Police Academy’ series! Check his twitter (http://twitter.com/sashamaslansky) There are waiters in Hollywood that got more goin on. Ironically, the producers make infamously bashed Directors: Michael Bay, M.Night Shymalan, Uwe Boll, etc. look like Steven Soderbergh. Now thats some upward/respectable lateral movment for a young star, eh?!

    Content:
“(an) epic martial arts adventure film” – OK, is this a big budget/big name production or a revival of 1970’s/80’s bad acting chop socky? See above for the likely answer. In actuality, it sounds like a ‘B’ movie. Does it sound like the aesthetic appeal of the heroine lead will be handled in a sophisticated manner or a cheap one? Again, see above.

    Public updates:
None yet and this is far from being similiar to the post-production/distributor squabble that Haywire is the purported cause for ‘Haywire’s delays. What about co-star casting? Not even a D-lister named as of yet.

Personally, I wish Gina nothing but the very best in life. But I am unsure what to think of this new movie project since she just recently announced her plans to have a comeback. I simply don’t believe she will be capable of giving it all she’s got in the ring anymore when there are too many distractions. I hope I am wrong.

  • Gina Carano Fan

This is an old rumor from a few months back. No truth to it so far.

Here’s an update! The writer/producer is soliciting advice from anyone on Twitter!

“Anyone got any ideas on helping finance the remake of The Silent Flute by Bruce Lee?”

If you have hope and trust for ‘Haywire’ being good and successful due to its acclaimed Director Steven Soderbergh and writer Lem Dobbs, how can you conversely not have the opposite for ‘The SIlent Flute’? Tell me.

This project is a not only a modern remake but it will be her version of ‘Knights’ – a martial arts fantasy epic (B movie) starring a former women’s kickboxing champion. A weak name drop of Bruce Lee will affect as much change between the two, as it has to produce funding for the remake.

Look at the trailer for the original 1978 ‘Slient Flute’ aka ‘Circle of Iron’

Now, take a look at ‘Knights’ – made 15 YEARS LATER in 1993!

See the obscure and insignificant differences?! If you do or don’t,;.Who cares? The genre, production and writing are of the same low nature & caliber. Even if the move is somehow planned to be done as a homage/spoof (i.e ‘Black Dynamite’) which it isn’t, its still limited release and downward plunging career direction.

Can I just tell you that Tara is the wife to the Cantonese master “Changsha” who is the ninth wife to him that guides Cord The Seeker, through the love ritual of tantric yoga and also shows the true meaning of love, this is directly came from the original 1970 screenplay, yeah I don’t see Carano playing a character would do that explicit sex with the character “Tara”, that her fingers parting from the lips of her vulva.
