I'm just heartbroken for Gina... That disappointment on her face just tears my heart apart. It must be hard for her now though, and I hope she doesn't feel like she let everyone down, or is too hard on herself. The whole world was watching, and I think that's what maybe makes her feel worse.

Any ideas on how to cheer Gina up?

(My friends are here to commiserate with me. We already have beer on the table. I really want to let it out and cry.)

I just think Gina needs some time to herself... The media won't help her feel any better.

As is understandable, Gina is bummed. I wish there was something we could do to comfort her.

My heart had been so heavy (mostly about the things in my life -- not anyone's fault), and when the fight ended the way it did, my sadness multiplied, and I wanted to cry, but couldn't. So now I'm having a cry therapy, with a little something cold to drink that my friends gave me. I just finished watching "The Notebook", and I cried even on the happy parts. Hopefully, I'll get over this sadness tomorrow, and so would Gina (and hopefully I have a better randori next time).

What doesn't kill you makes you stronger. (If only I could learn this...)

Sorry, rambling. This stuff packs a punch.

I'm also going through a hard time at the moment, so I understand how this just intensifies everything. If we're feeling this way, I don't want to know what Gina's going through. I wish there was something we could do, but unfortunately there's nothing anyone can do for her. It's just something she'll have to work through on her own (with the support of her family and friends of course).

P.S. If you ever want to talk to someone, send me an e-mail...  :)

If that fight went another round there would be a great possibility that she would've gotten more hurt then she did. Gina didnt have a fight in almost a year and they put her against a man.......

Yep, family and friends are important, but there some things one needs to figure out on one's own. We'll all get through this though, so we just need to ride this out. I read this a few days ago: "If you're going through hell, keep going." :)

Thanks for the offer Phoenix, I greatly appreciate it. I think I cried it all off. I'll be fine, thanks so much for your concern. ;)

Hopefully Gina isn't hurt badly. But that one single second could've made the difference. And come on, guys, we don't need to bring down Cris (not that I like her for roughing Gina up). A rematch will be in order once the dust settles. Gina will be ready.

Hey its very sad, Gina couldnt prove herself. What will she do now? I think its part of live to lose. She just have to find the right way to go, find out, who she really is. She`s not the "beauty", she is more than that. Her opponents may think, that her cariere is over, but in the end, she moved the world. Hope you know it Gina. And Cyborg is a really great fighter, hope the world accepts that and take her seriosly!

And sorry for my bad english!  :-\

Gina, although focused, seemed unprepared. Gina is a great fighter but i think she didn't train as hard as she should have to fight this beast. I think Gina trained tremendously hard but not tremendously hard for Cyborg. Cyborg is a man and a fight that she didn't expect. Cyborg knew Gina's fighting style, which is keeping her distance and using that powerful front leg kick, and which is why she fought so offensively and wanted to stay close. Gina has to practice and train against a man to come back and gain her title back. Gina is an icon for all woman. Gina is one of the most beautiful, talented, and feminine woman there is. She is one of the greatest fighters. She'll defeat you with with her focus and calmness before the round even starts. She didn't expect for Cyborg to come at her so hard and with such power. Gina must train to fight a "man". Cyborg seems as if she has the power of a "man" and fought very offensively. GINA, TRAIN HARD TO FIGHT A MAN AND COME BACK AND WIN!!!!

Nice first post and welcome aboard.  I agree and disagree with you though.  I think Gina trained very hard and was ready but the thing she was not ready for was actual fight speed.  And this is how Cyborg beat her, by taking advantage of Gina's time away from the cage.  No way Cyborg could have kept that pace up through the 2nd round which is why she had to end it in the first 5 mins.  It was an excellent fight plan by Cyborg's crew but it wont work in their rematch.

Hi all, I'm new to this site but felt I had to express my feelings about this somewhere. I should preface this by saying I am by no means an MMA expert, only a casual fan. However I am a huge Gina fan and waited forever for this fight. It was clear to me Gina was nervous, you could see it in her body language pre fight. She struggled that first round, probably had some cobwebs to shake off being out of the ring so long clearly, but she just seemed over matched. That being said I think it is a total injustice that Cyborg even had the chance to fight Gina. It doesn't take blood tests or admission of guilt to know when someone is taking illegal substances to enhance their game. One look at Cyborg and anyone with the courage and common sense will tell you she's morphed her entire body into an unnatural fighting machine with some sort of steriods. She has all the classic features of a heavy steroid user. Anyone who disagrees with me should do some research on what steroids does to the female body. Gina is an impressive presense in the ring, but she looked like  a daintly little girl next to Cyborg. It just isn't right in my opinion. And yes this is just my opinion but I’m sure many willagree. I’m not just saying this to tear down Cyborg or because I’m upset Gina lost, it’s just the obvious picture anyone with  any guts sees when they look at this situation. Gina will be back and will be prepared to fight a cheater, and she will be back on top.

Gnome, maybe she is, but until there's actual proof, all these is just talk.

Much has been said about this, and I'm now willing to consider that maybe Cris Santos got into Gina's head.
I agree with Krav, whatever advantage Cris got over Gina in that fight will disappear when Gina gets back up. Gina is one strong soul, and when she gets back, it will be awesome.
