Well I'm not a technical fighter, or a trainer, or even a addicted fan of the sport of MMA. So my opinion might be taken with a grain of salt, but here it is.
Fighting, I think, over the ages has all boiled down to one thing.... dictating the direction of the fight. With the exception of maybe 10% probability of a suprise submission(in this sport), most fights are won by the person who dictates the direction of the fight. Controlling a fight is as physical as it is mental. Like Lesnar and Frank Mir. Lesnar simply came right out and dominated the smaller weaker person. He controlled Frank on the ground physically therefore dictating the direction of the fight. Cyborg did a similar routine. Both of these fighters KNOW that they are the strongest. The strongest have ONE option to be the best... smother the other fighter and beat the crap out of them. Gina came into this fight not ready to face Cyborg. Some of it was mental, but most of it was her training and gameplan.
If I was training her, as for what this posts is asking, I would push her beyond her limits so to speak. She would lose some of the lady like physique that she has to replace it with more muscle. I know its something her fan base doesnt want to see on her, but the honest truth is... to beat a beast, you must become a beast. She would have to heavy weight train in endurance deadlifts among other weightlifting aspects. I mention the deadlifts specifically because, its 100% certainty that they go to the ground. Gina needs to have the strength throughout her back to get back up and away from her quickly or to force new positions on her immediately and a strong back is key to that. She would need to be able to deadlift 185 lbs 20 reps atleast. I cannot begin to tell you how hard a person is to control if they have a full combination of strong legs, abs and back.
Second thing I would focus on with her is to train her to handle 10 minutes straight of 175 + BPM cardio with her entire body in action (perhaps 3 minute rotating wrestlers with weighted gear to intensify the effect). Watching the fight and then watching replays I noticed she was Gassed halfway thru the fight. Not that Gina had not trained hard cardio beforehand, its just that she trained the wrong type of cardio. Doing 5 minute drills on specific parts of the body is not even remotely related to fighting for your life for 5 minutes with all muscles TENSED and a 155 lb weighted object smothering you during that time. There is relaxed cardio training (I know...it sounds like a contradiction in terms) and there is aggro cardio training. Jogging on a treadmill is an example of relaxed cardio training. Aggro cardio training would be wrestling on the ground, but never stopping in positions..continually moving, with such things as weight attachments to intensify the muscles' effort.
Lastly Gina's technical approach, The woman is skilled. As Randy said she could learn some more things, but I think she has the technical abilities to beat her. Her problem for that fight was her aggression. You dont beat a man like err... um... woman like Cyborg by standup striking, because she will charge you and will overpower you. So the only way to beat her is like I said before .. become the beast... you over power her. Come straight out at the start with full force and fury. Jump on her, put your weight on her... make her work her muscles harder to escape and have her on defense the entire time. This tires her out faster than you, and does one more thing.... it has you controlling the direction of the fight.
Any how, thats just my opinion. I'm not so sure that Gina would want to change her body in that way just to beat one person. But I simply think that's gonna be the only way to beat Cyborg is to overpower her.
