I am hardly qualified to advise such a fine fighter who is perhaps also smarter than me in many ways. However, Miyamoto Musashi and his "Book of 5 Rings" should be studied. I have 5 years experience as a sword & buckler fighter in a little known European tradition known as I.33, and even across time and continents, Musashi's work is thought provoking and relevant. Not only to sword fighting. But to the wrestling and unarmed fighting that happens in close quarter. So I have watched that last fight with Cyborg and have, I believed, come to personal conclusions from a few statements by sword masters many many years ago. The first feeling I have is when I read the opening words of Musashi from his book of Earth. " No man is invincible, and therefore no man can fully understand that which would make him invincible. Even with complete and thorough study there is always the possibility of being defeated and although one may be expert in a particular form, mastery is something a man never stops seeking to attain." To me this speaks volumes, that great technique even has its limitations. The other feeling I have is from words uttered by the German swordsmaster Liechtenaur to his students. A powerful Duke had gone to the old fightmaster to hire some of his best fighters for a special job in his army and the old master had bypassed the best students in the school and picked some lesser fighters for the job. They complained loudly that his selection was wrong. He explained that he must never ever send men who were not brightly happy to battle. Any man he sent MUST be happy in his whole heart, or they would not come back. He had noticed that students who were not bouncing with personal joy would be held in the balance, and when he sent sad men to battle, they never ever came back. This makes me ask, for my second feeling, what Gina was feeling. Did she have that exuberance that all warriors need and feed on at the moment of the fight? There is a third feeling that I have, but this can wait. If anyone is interested we can chat more. Hugs to all. :-)
