Article Publishing Guidelines.
« on: February 27, 2009, 11:05:56 PM »
Just wanted to post some guidelines when publishing articles.

1. Try to credit the source at the end of your article.
2. Feel free to use the "read more" link. This will break the article from what is shown on the front page to the entire article on it's own page link.
...wherever you want the break to be, place your cursor and hit the "read more" link
3. Always select Published and Show on Front page
4. Access Level should be Public..this allows the public to view all articles
5. Metadata Description - Just a brief description on what the article is.
5a. Metadata Keywords - just some random keywords related to article...this allows search engines to pick up on these keywords that other fans might be searching for. Try to limit it to 10 or less.
6. If you are inserting an image in the article, try to resize it so it's not mega huge on the site. Makes it easier on readers.

Edit: Do not hotlink images from other sites. Use a site like tinypic or photobucket to host the images.

Remember other fans will be browsing the site and be reading so please keep that in mind.

If you have any problems or questions, feel free to let us know and we can help you figure something out.

This is optional and i use it because i feel it makes it look more profesional but I suggest the use of blockquotes if you are quoting from an article:

The html tag is <blockquote>quote from the article</blockquote>

You would need to click on the 'html' button in edit mode to get to html mode where you can use html tags. This is only if you are famililar with html, otherwise you can leave this alone.

Also, i feel that it isn't right to post the entire article, which is why I only quote the important part of the articles and then link it to the full article in the source link. Please let me know your opinions on this.

I totally agree with you... It's better that way.

Quote the interesting parts, cite your sources, then write your own take/opinion underneath :)

Yeah but you also want to add your own opinion or brief summary before the quote. If you notice in my articles, i always say a quick line or two before post the quote.

I published a new article, and wanted to edit it a bit, but having problems with that. I know what I need to do next time now, so excuse it if it's a bit messy. Firstly, link is correct, but didn't add the hyperlink properly, and picture is placed a bit wrong. Next time will be better, LOL!

Nice find on the article. Would you mind if i reformated the article a bit? (just repositioning the picture so that the words wrap around it and reformating the bottom link).

Then you can go back in edit mode to see what i did for future reference. Lemme know
