Wonder what your opinion is on this statement and quote from Strikeforce..

Strikeforce opted not to acquire Young out of a desire to develop lesser-seen fighters.

“We want to build up new talent,” he said.

I mean, if this is true, why bring Gina in? She isn't really new per say and hardly a "lesser-seen fighter"?

It's definitely an excuse. Finney, Baszler, and Purcell definitely aren't new talent. They are MMA veterans compared to Young. Only difference is that Young was on a televised card with Gina, and she is being punished for it. That's probably not the real reason why she's not included. I think its got more to do with some contractual or money agreement. Or maybe Young is still pissed off about that doctor's stoppage; who knows.

But I don't think the reason is because she's too good. Most promotions would kill to have her; she has an exciting fighting style and I think she can draw more than most of the people on that list of talent. The women's dvision is already lacking as it is compared to the men's, It would be dumb for Strikeforce to bring people that are LESS talented to the table.

Coker has mentioned they want to bring in Overeem, but personally I don't see that many intriguing matchups for him unless they Cross-Promote with Affliction.
