Top 10 Gina Carano Predictions for 2011

Posted by: Jen on January 16, 2011

We have compiled a list of top 10 Gina Carano predictions for 2011.  These are predication based on her history of things that she has done in the past and some speculation as to what she might do in the future.

1. She’ll Fight in MMA
It’s likely that sometime before the end of the year she will fight most likely in Strikeforce.  Since her only loss was to Cris Cyborg, she may get an another shot at fighting for the championship belt. Strikeforce already has a deal in place with CBS and it would be nice if the fans got to see her fight live for free instead of a PPV event.

2.  Be in a Magazine
A pretty safe bet is that she will be in least one magazine if not multiple magazines this year.  The question might be if she would be featured on the cover of a popular magazine.

3.  Be on a Talk Show
With the upcoming movie, Haywire, I expect a big round of promotion leading up to the release date.  With the promotion, I would expect Gina to be on various TV shows.

4. Sign a Deal for Another Movie
She could sign a deal for a movie either before or after the release of Haywire.  Certainly if the movie Haywire does well, then Hollywood producers will be lining up to try and feature her in their next movie.  Some movies can be shot in as little as 30 days, so doing another movie may not interfere with her ambition to fight.

5.  Gina Carano Game or Toy
We will see another action figure or something different? Maybe we see her featured in a MMA video game.

6. Be Featured in a Commercial
Gina’s brand is quickly growing and she is truly an inspiration to a lot of people.  Looks, charm and athletic ability are a rare combination and a lot of multinational brands may be looking to lock in a deal with Gina before someone else beats them to the punch.

7.  Haywire Grosses 100 Million or More at the Box Office
The budget for Haywire is around an estimated 25 million.  For it to gross 100 million there would need to be at least 25 million spent on advertising and a large release of the movie.  Also a lot of media buzz will need to be generated.  The biggest thing the movie has going for it is that Steven Soderbergh is the director behind the movie.  His past films include Erin Brockovich, Traffic, The Informant! and Ocean’s Eleven.

8. Guest or Major Appearance on Reality/TV Show
Fans have embraced her on every show she has been on.  It’s really just a matter of finding a show that will fit with her brand and her schedule.

9. Hawire Released to the Theaters
Fans might start to jump off a cliff if the movie isn’t’ released in 2011.  The trailer is usually released 2-3 months before the movie is released.   Late April has so far reported to be the release date by some media sources.  I would not expect the movie to be released in June-July, as it would then be going head to head with the major summer blockbuster movies.

10. Fan Signing Event
Gina loves her fans, which she was quoted, as saying was the driving force that propels her forward.  Any word we get, we’ll let our fans know.   Since she lives and works in the area of LA to Las Vegas, I would expect the event to be someone near that area.  Though she could have multiple signing events in different parts of the U.S.

Let’s hope all these predictions come true.  Gina’s popularity is growing fast and she is becoming a mainstream celebrity.

I really don’t think it’s going to gross 100 million or more. Maybe $50 worldwide…
But we’ll see how they market it.

Half of those are non-predictions because they are given. The movie has already been announce to be in theaters and as a result, she will be in a comercial trailer, do tv interviews, and be in magazines.

That’s like predicting that Mariah Carey or Natalie Portman will have a baby in 2011.

Yeah just make em more specific.
    ex.
    – not just more movies but maybe Expendables 2 or super hero stuff.
    – what will the magazines say, just her stardom or will aid the fem empowerment just like Danica etc. (I dunno if thats a good example but u know what I mean)
-as far as commercials go nclude the fact that she was already in a ad for Pepsi
-talkshows – will she go on Ellen (as shes a big fan) will the appearances ve as good as when she was on Craig Ferguson.
    – She’ll fight mma – could coincide w/ an announcment near the release date or when Strikeforce tries for ppv with the semis or finals of the tourney.

From what I’ve heard from a few people who have seen the movie it does sound like it could gross $100million, probably more. If it is a success it won’t be surprising if she does get another movie deal. With the way acting success go, she will most likely be featured in a few magazines, leading up to and after the movie, and could do a commercial. But the question really is, will she return to MMA? I hope so, she was great to watch in the ring.

Also, she does have a toy already, that mma action figure she has. They may make one based on her movie character, but that remains to be seen. They could use her for an mma video game, but they mostly use male fighters for that because there still aren’t that many female fighters to use out there. Unless of course they create a video game for the Haywire movie.

The least likely to happen is appearing on a reality TV show, that’s mostly for has-beens or people looking to gain attention for themselves. We’ll probably Kimbo Slice in a reality show, but definitely not Gina.

Mostly, I’m hoping that the movie will be a success, and that she will return to MMA.
